ANNOUNCING THE CITE AI ADDENDUM
Innovation thrives on collaboration, and the launch of the AI Addendum for K-12 School Districts is a true testament to that.
The increasing use of AI in classrooms has outpaced the development of AI-specific legal protections, leaving many districts grappling with concerns about how to navigate this emerging landscape responsibly. |
To address the unique challenges and opportunities offered by AI technologies, CITE is proud to introduce the latest version of the CA-NDPAv1.5 - which will now include an AI addendum designed to extend the protections of the NDPA to cover the use of AI.
As it is the first of its kind, this will be an educational process that will be new to both LEAs and Vendors. Therefore, the roll out will be gradual and not all CA-NDPAs will include the AI Addendum in the beginning stages. As vendors work with us to renew their agreements we will advocate for the inclusion of the new AI Exhibit.
You can find a copy of the newest version of the CA-NDPAv1.5 that will include the AI Addendum on our website https://www.cite.org/stuprivacy.
Special thanks to David Thurston, Chief Technology Officer for San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools; Matthew Penner, Director of Information and Instructional Technology for Val Verde USD; and others. Their insights and expertise were instrumental in ensuring the addendum meets the unique needs of K-12 education.
