Mentor Applications for the 2025 Cohort are now closed. Stay tuned for more information.
Mentors are a crucial component of the CITE Certified Chief Technology Officer Program! Each candidate in the program is assigned a mentor that will support and provide guidance throughout the program. This support may take the form of coaching, giving feedback on written work, emotional support, time management support and/or career advice. Mentors are expected to read and provide feedback on all assignments and help their candidate to complete the program. Mentoring requires 8-12 hours each month.
Mentors receive a small stipend for their participation as well as automatic CCCTO recertification. They do not need to submit any recertification hours or pay the $25 recertification fee. We strongly encourage new mentors to apply each year! We look for a diverse group of mentors that we can pair with our increasingly diverse group of candidates.
A successful mentor for the CTOM Program should have the following qualifications:
- Currently hold a position as a leader in K-12 technology (at least 10 years of experience is preferred)
- Have hands-on experience with K-12 technology
- Hold a degree in business related field or a CTOM Program certification, or have demonstrated work experience
Mentors will be expected to:
- Enter into a contractual arrangement with CITE to perform the duties of a mentor which includes ~ 10 hours/month
- Meet regularly with your assigned candidate to review progress, assignments, and artifacts
- Provide in-depth written and verbal feedback on candidate's writing and presentation skills
- Provide monthly feedback to the candidate and Program Manager about the candidate's progress
- Consult with instructors as needed to help the candidate resolve questions
- Attend monthly mentor meetings on Zoom or watch recording if unable to attend
- Attend mid-year evaluation meeting(s) with the assigned candidate and follow up with the candidate on any are(s) needing improvement
- Attend the Program Kickoff session in Sunnyvale from 8am - 4pm on Friday, February 7, 2025. CITE will pay for travel and lodging.
