David is the Director of Information Technology for El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE). David has been working in IT in education for over 23 years and 14 of those years have been with EDCOE. As the Director of IT, David leads a team providing technology infrastructure and support services to county office departments, student programs, and school districts within El Dorado County.

How long have you been in your current role and how did you get there?

"I have proudly served as Director of IT for the past 7 years, a position I've earned through dedication, hard work, and the invaluable support of my colleagues and family."

What's a recent win you've had at work?

"We recently welcomed a new IT Services Manager to our department, which is especially exciting as this is a newly created position on our team. This addition will enable us to provide an even higher level of support to both our internal departments and the school districts we serve throughout our county."

How long have you been a CITE member? What is your favorite memory from a CITE event?

"I don't recall exactly when I first became a CITE member since it was years ago back when it was called CETPA. I'm estimating it was around 2006. After a brief hiatus due to position changes, I rejoined in 2015 and have been an active member ever since. One of my favorite CITE memories was at the 2016 annual conference, where I stepped far outside my comfort zone to present my first session on securing Chromebooks in incarcerated youth programs. That experience was truly transformative. It helped me overcome my fears and sparked a newfound passion for presenting on topics that excite me."

What do you do in your limited free time?

"I have four young children, so my free time is often spent with them, and we especially enjoy outdoor water activities together during the summer months."

Are there any special shout outs you'd like to give to someone in your life or the CITE community who has made a special impact on you?

"I want to give a special shoutout to my wife for her unwavering support. She’s a true supermom, managing to juggle everything week after week while also backing me in all my career goals. In the CITE community, I’d like to extend my gratitude to Jerry Jones, Brianne Ford, and Jeremy Davis. Your leadership and inspiration have made a lasting impact on me and countless others."

If someone is intimidated or reluctant to get involved with CITE, what advice would you give them?

"If you’re looking to advance your career in IT within education or reignite your passion for technology, I highly encourage you to get involved in the CITE community. Even if you feel overwhelmed by your schedule or intimidated by all that CITE has to offer, I suggest starting by following the community discussions and attending the conference when possible. I guarantee you'll find tremendous value in it. You'll quickly discover that the knowledge and connections you gain through CITE will make your day-to-day work feel more manageable and efficient."
